SOME THOUGHTS ON NEROLI
Neroli (Bitter Orange or Seville Orange) most notably produced in Spain, Tunisia, & Egypt is truly special for it’s diversity. It’s ability to ease anxiety speaks to our soul and its rejuvenating components unite the physical body with the desire for beauty.
The word orange comes from the Arabic Narandj, and it was in fact the Arabs who introduced the Orange tree to Europe. The Arabs distilled Seville Oranges in the eleventh century for Perfume. To this day the essential oil of the petals (Neroli) is one of the most precious essential oil specialties. It is still associated with steady ownership and cultivation over generations. It takes years before petals can be harvested. The trees surrounding Seville average over a hundred years in age. The Cathedral in Seville is surrounded by the trees, and provides an exquisite olfactory backdrop as the city vibrates with beautiful celebrations.
