NEW MOON MUSINGS
1. NEW MOON, MY MOONTIME, AND PLANTS
“In the red tent, the truth is known. In the red tent, where days pass like a gentle stream, as the gift of Innana courses through us, cleansing the body of last month’s death, preparing the body to receive the new month’s life, women give thanks — for repose and restoration, for the knowledge that life comes from between our legs, and that life costs blood.”
— Anita Diamant, The Red Tent
New Moon and Moon time is a Sacred time. It’s a time of deep intuition and much needed self love. This time of the moon, month, and your cycle is not to be taken lightly, this is a GIFT, a gift of flowing with the stream of consciousness. Planting, creating, seeding new thoughts, and when our moon cycle is linked with the moon it makes it even more potent. Two weeks before the New Moon, start drinking and ingesting powerful plant allies – rehmannia, ho shou wu, licorice, nettle, scullcap, Egyptian blue lotus, white peony, passionflower, don qaui, chaste tree berry. These are a few of my most favorite. Why?! Because they support the life force and the “Chi,” a Chinese word meaning aliveness, life force, energy. or life breath (also known as Ki, Qi or Prana). The Definition of Chi: “Theories of traditional Chinese medicine assert that the body has natural patterns of qi associated with it that circulate in channels called meridians in English.” During this time right before moon time and during you need as much help as possible to keep the body in a sweet state of lightness. Try walking barefoot outside, bathing under the evening sky, rising at dawn–the magic hour just before the light. This will deeply harmonize you with the natural cycles of nature and with YOU!!! New Moon darkness helps you to connect deeper with the immense clarity of LIGHT! Going to bed early is key to getting more in tune with your dream world as well as getting the much needed sleep that the body needs to thrive optimally. Drinking passionflower, scullcap, white peony, and blue lotus before bed will activate and amplify cosmic meditation. All of the plants, barks, and herbs I suggest also deeply nourish skin, hair, nails, and eyes. They support the radiance of beauty! I love LOVE Moontime blood. I love being on my period, because I download powerful insights for my life and I create and write the most powerful messages from Spirit. I strongly recommend talking to your SELF in the most beautiful, healthy ways, rubbing breasts, underarms, ovaries, and meridian points to show how much you honor this incredible temple you dwell in!!!! Nourishing products that are non-toxic and high vibration such as Feather Eagle Sky, taking warm baths with holy basil, frankincense, neroli, rose, violet, immortelle, mugwort, and sage( for protection), clary sage, ylang ylang, rose geranium (for hormones), these are but a few of my favorite oils and plants that I take and lather all over my body. I have been cold plunging daily for almost a decade, and prior during my whole childhood growing up an avid nature-mover, but I rarely do during my Moon time as I like to keep cold water immersing for before and after. I strongly recommend rinsing after a hot bath or shower which is also a great way to start prepping for deeper union with this magnificent ancestral practice. The cold is excellent for medicine, centering self, breath, and for whole body amplification, tightening skin, calming inflammation in the joints, and making hair shiny!!! My new Arkana 24k Gold Face Cream is excellent for massaging into your face, neck, and chest after bathing, loaded with powerful protective plants that came to me in visions with plant teachers such as Ayahuasca. Plant medicine is deeply a part of my life practice, honestly it’s a rite of passage for teaching or sharing plants in general. This isn’t something I recommend however within many circles in the USA, because many lack the full apprenticeship with the other plant teachers that are necessary for holding a ceremony. This includes a diet of other sacred plants, isolation and fasting from everyone in the jungle with the plants you are learning from, mastering songs that the plants give you to sing, and knowing how to take care of others during a ceremony. Ayahuasca is just one aspect that entails a whole realm of increased wisdom and linage with true masters! I am grateful for my long apprenticeship and my deeper learning that continues to take place as I travel and work directly with the Shipibo people, and with the Shaman herself, Chacruna, and the other plants that one must know!!! My husband and I are excited to share this practice with you, which is a very important aspect our lives, at the AYA Retreat in Peru this June (scroll down for details). Blessings Love & Light, and Happy New Moon – LIFE IS A GIFT “The plants make you sing.” All my highest love.
